Regarding helping people get the difference between .com and .org tutorials: what if we leveraged the “gray for .org / blue for .com” paradigm that exists in the favicons for each and found a way to implement that in the design? (Videos would of course still need some descriptive text to make it clear.)
You’d run into issues with anything that was broad enough to cover both systems, but it would be a decent way to visually identify one from the other.

We talked at one point about replacing the existing thumbnails with the relevant icon (given that the current thumbnails aren’t wildly exciting with all of the screencast content we have up). I think visual indicators, as you’ve suggested, could definitely play a useful role here any thoughts on the where and how? Down the line, I think greater differentiation at the navigation level would be helpful. Get people to the right place, fast. This could also play a role in the courses/playlists we’ve discussed below.
We also need to cover the fact that some videos cover *both* platforms. Maybe a split color icon or something.
